We continue to study the text, Joyful Path of Good Fortune, by meditation master Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. We will begin the new section on the Intermediate Scope on February 12th at 2pm.

If you're interested in joining the Foundation Program or interested in sitting in on a class, please contact the Education Program Coordinator, at 416-762-8033 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 416-762-8033 end_of_the_skype_highlighting or epc@kadampa.ca

Classes take place at Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada, 631 Crawford Street (2 blocks west of Christie) Toronto

	About the Book

We are presenty studying Joyful Path of Good Fortune, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. The book presents the entire Buddhist path to enlightenment in a way that is easy to follow and put into practice. Each chapter builds on the next and clearly illuminates topics such as rebirth, karma, compassion, and the ultimate nature of reality. It is also the perfect foundation for the deeper practices of Tantra.

	About the Foundation Program

The purpose of the Foundation Program is to provide a systematic presentation of particular subjects of Mahayana Buddhism to enable practitioners to deepen their knowledge and experience of Buddhism. Through systematic study we can gain confidence in applying meditation to whatever we meet. Gradually, our wisdom & compassion will grow and we are more able to help others to do the same. Over time, we sow the seeds for the attainment of lasting happiness, full enlightenment.

	Five subjects

The program comprises the following five subjects, based on Buddha’s Sutra teachings and the corresponding commentaries by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso:

The Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, based on the commentary Joyful Path of Good Fortune

Training the Mind, based on the commentaries Universal Compassion and Eight Steps to Happiness

The Heart Sutra, based on the commentary Heart of Wisdom

Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, based on the commentary Meaningful to Behold

Types of Mind, based on the commentary Understanding the Mind

Classes resume Jan. 15th; due to a special weekend event please note there is no class the following Sunday, Jan. 22.

	No Fee | Everyone welcome

Our Sunday morning Prayers for World Peace class is an opportunity to develop a warm and loving heart. We all need to learn to cherish one and other because this mind of love brings happiness to ourselves and everyone we come into contact with. In essence, learning to cherish others is the best method for establishing peace in the world, and for our own peace of mind in particular.

Each week Gen Chogyan will cover a small section from the book, 8 Steps to Happiness. This book shows us how to cherish others as well as how to remove the inner obstacles to love and compassion. Topics include: how to recognize our delusions without identifying with them, how to see the kindness and good qualities in others, how to practice humility and how to change and set positive views and intentions. Each class includes a breathing meditation, a short teaching and chanted prayers for world peace.
